Putu mayang cake can also be called rice flour nest with sweet coconut sauce. Putu mayang cake is a typical Indonesia Betawi dish made from starch or rice flour and coconut milk, then shaped like noodles. This noodle-like dish is served with kinca or palm sugar coconut sauce. It's soft and sweet texture is eaten with kinca or sweet coconut sauce. This time we will make this unique food. Follow step bellow :
PUTU MAYANG RECIPE
For 25 pieces
Ingredients :
250 g Rice flour
550 ml Boiling water
1-2 tsp salt
Red and green colourants
Kinca ingredients :
500 ml Coconut milk
200 g Palm sugar, finely sliced
2 tsb Sugar
¼ tsp salt
2 knotted Pandan leaves
How to make :
1. Layer a steamed basket with a ckean cloth. Place rice flour on top and steam for 1 hour. Set aside in a container.
2. Pour in boiling water on steamed rice flour, add salt and combine thoroughly
3. Let it cool before kneading until smooth.
4. Devide dough into 3 parts for white, pink, and green colours.
5. Put dough into Putu mayang mould. Then press it out, while making a rotating motion to shape the snack to preferred size.
6. Steam for 25 minutes until cooked.
7. Kinca : Pour in coconut milk into a pan and add finely sliced palm sugar, sugar, salt, and pandan leaves.
8. Bring to boil on low heat. Stirring from time to time.
9. When it boils, reduce the heat and continue stirring for another 5 minutes before removing from the heat and strain
10. Serve Putu Mayang drizzled with sweet coconut sauce.
