Kue Lapis Beras Recipe, Moist Layer Cake.

Kue Lapis Beras or Moist layer cake is a typical Indonesian food. This cake usually consists of two colors that are layered, this is what gives this cake its name. This cake is made from rice flour, starch, coconut milk, sugar, salt, and coloring. This cake is steamed every layer before then the layer above is added. The key to the delicacy of this moist layer cake is the combination of rice flour, starch, and coconut milk which can make it legit and tasty. 

The texture is chewy and legit with a sweet taste and pandan aroma which makes it even more fragrant when bitten. How to make this moist layer cake is fairly easy. Here's a recipe you can follow :


MOIST LAYER CAKE RECIPE 


for 30 pieces 

Ingredient:


250 g Rice flour

100 g Tapioca flour

950 ml Coconut milk, from ½ coconut 

½ tsp Salt 

300 g Sugar

3 Pandan leaves

Colorants as preferred 



How to make :


1. Boil coconut milk, salt, and pandan leaves together, set aside and keep warm. 

2. Mix all flour and sugar, and pour in coconut milk gradually whilst kneading. Continue kneading until sugar is dissolved and coconut milk is completely mixed. 

3. Divide mixture into parts and color.

4. Grease a 20×20×5 cm tin with oil and heat up in a steaming pan.

5. Add 1 ladle of colored mixture and steam for 5 minutes until firm, then top with a ladle of other color. Do this alternatively with all color.

6. After the final layer is set, steam for 30 minutes until the cake is cooked overall.

7. Let moist layer cake cool then cut into 20 layers.

8. Moist layer cake ready to serve.
