Carabikang Recipe, Blossom Rice Flour Cake.

Have you ever tastes this food? 
Many Indonesian foods are made from rice flour, such as Apem, Lapis, Serabi, Nogosari, and others. Likewise the snack that we will make this time, namely Carabikang.

Carabikang or Blossom rice flour cake is one of the Indonesian market snacks that is quite popular to the community. For the people of Central Java, Carabikang is a market snack that is easy to find. This cake has various names, some call it coro-bikang and some call it coro-bikan. The bikang cake is generally pink in color, but then there are many new creations from coro biking so there are colorful ones, for example there are white, blue and pink ones. 

Carabikang can be found in traditional markets or supermarkets. This food is shaped like a blooming flower and is colored. It tastes sweet and has a soft fibrous texture. 

Carabikang method includes wet cakes which are made through a roasting process in a special bikang cake mold.

To make this beautiful cake is very easy, let's follow steps below :


for 20 pieces 

Ingredient :


125 g Rice flour

125 g Flour 

1 tbs Starch 

100 g Sugar

500 ml Warm coconut milk
 
½ tsp Salt

½ tsp vanilla 

2 tbs oil

2 tbs Santan Areh/ thick coconut milk sauce

Colourants as preferred 



How to make :


1. Mix together rice flour, flour, starch, sugar, salt, and vanilla 

2. Pour warm coconut milk into flour mixture. Whisk together until mixed then strain. 

3. Add oil the  mix again.

4. Divide mixture into three parts. Add colourants and combine thoroughly. 

5. Heat up the Carabikang mould until very hot, grease with oil.

6. Pour the pink batter 1 ladle of vegetables, wait until the edges are dry the cover with the white batter wait again with the blue batter.

7. Wait until the pancake is cooked and holds formed on the surface. Brush with a little of areh sauce.

8. Lift the pancake out side, and use a fork to slightly shred and pull the round edge so the pancake cracks or "blossom" , resembling a flower. 

9. If preferred, brush the bottom side of pancake with areh sauce, to make it soft and moist. 

10. Cara-bikang ready to serve.
