Wingko Babat Recipe, Moist Coconut And Vanilla Cake.

Wingko Babat is a kind of cake made from young coconut, glutinous rice flour and sugar. Wingko is very famous on the coast of Island of Java. This cake is often sold at train station, bus station or also in cake shops for family souvenirs.

Wingko is usually round and usually served warm and cut into small pieces. Wingko can be sold in large round shapes or in the form of small cakes wrapped in paper. The combination of sugar and coconut makes this cake delicious. The price of this cake can vary depending on where it is sold and the winko brand.

Even though this food id rarely found in many places, it does not mean that Wingko is difficult to make. Wingko tripe is food that very easy to make, the ingredient are easy to get and the cooking method is fairly easy. Here is a recipe that you can follow ;


Ingredient :

200 g Glutinous rice flour

200 ml Water

1 Young coconut, grated

1 Egg white

150 g Sugar

1/2 tsp Salt


How to make :

1. Preheat oven to 180C. Prepare a tin, layered with greased banana leaf or baking paper.

2. Boil water, salt, and sugar together. Simmer until sugar is fully dissolved, set aside.

3. Mix glutinous rice flour and grated coconut. Pour in sugar syrup gradually while stirring. Add egg and stir to combine.

4. Pour mixture into prepared tin. Flatten and level to 1 cm thickness. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes until cooked and golden brown. 

5. Take out and leave to set for 5-10 minutes, then slice while still warm. Wingko Babat ready to serve.
